Meet the Team

Becks has been qualified as a chartered physiotherapist longer than she would like to admit!

She qualified from Birmingham University in 1999, and has since worked in a variety of clinical roles both in the UK and abroad. She predominately specialises in musculoskeletal treatments and has been working in the private setting for over 10 years. Becks uses a combination of manual techniques, exercises, education, acupuncture, clinical pilates and kinesiology tape to rehabilitate patients back to good health.

As an outdoor sports enthusiast Becks has practised yoga for over 10 years to help keep her injury free! Since meeting her current teacher, friend and mentor, Tracey, she has gone on to complete the British Wheel of Yoga teaching diploma and is bringing her physio knowledge to the yoga studio.

Yoga Teacher and Masseur

Tracey met yoga when she met her first teacher - Ester- over 30 years ago. As a fresh faced youth, she forayed into her local village hall for evening classes in Iyengar Yoga and left forever changed - Estert made her body, mind and spirits soar into happiness and she has chosen to follow this path ever since!

Tracey's first career as long-haul cabin crew with British Airways taught her the world and enabled her to visit teachers of all styles, shapes and sizes. Whether a dusty hut in the middle of no-where, a mountain top, a beachside, or in a pristine studio - yoga was for all - and it made her smile!

Tracey formalised her career in the UK and has been learning yoga ever since. She also chose to heighten her body studies with massage and pilates.

Tracey teaches with love, honesty and happiness. Tru Yoga in Alnwick gives her the opportunity to provide a place of growth and learning for those who share her love of all things yoga, and to provide a safe and welcoming environment for those who wish to learn and play.

Yoga Teacher

Claire initially came to yoga during a stressfull time in her life, and soon discovered both the physical and psychological benefits. Yoga allowed her to learn to breathe properly and release anxiety as well enjoying to stretch and move the body.

Having benefitted from going to a regular yoga class, Claire stopped yoga for a long period after having her first son. When she returned to practicing yoga her then toddler loved to join in. This lead Claire to discover the benefits of yoga for kids and she has since completed the YogaBugs kids training course.

Claire now enjoys teaching kids of all ages, especially big kids! She has practise and learned from a variety of traditions and uses a combination of these styles in her own teaching.

Claire encourages her students to listen to their own body with a focus on breathing and alignment. Her classes are calm, friendly and suitable for people of all levels

Yoga Teacher

Deb began her yoga journey almost 20 years ago when she attended her first yoga class in Leeds. She loved the effect it had on her posture and balance, enabling her to reach a place of stillness away from the daily stresses in life. In developing her practice she studied various styles of yoga around the world with many different teachers. Most recently Astanga, Vinyasa Flow and Iyengar Yoga with Joey Miles, Nichi Green and Margaret Austen.
In 2015 she completed her Yoga Alliance Professionals teacher training with Brian Cooper and is now teaching classes based in Northumberland. She uses a combination of breath, movement, alignment and strength to create a challenging class, whilst keeping it fun.

Deb teaches Ashtanga Improvers at Tru Yoga on Thursdays.

Traditional Chinese Acupuncturist

Michael first encountered acupuncture 15 years ago through his martial arts training in Tai Chi and Seven Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu, which incorporate elements of health and energy cultivation, alongside teaching the fundamentals of Eastern philosophy and medicine. After years of frustration with hay fever, he explored many complementary therapies and found acupuncture to be the most effective.

Having worked as a secondary school teacher, training to be an acupuncturist was a pipe dream, but Michael took the leap in 2015 and enrolled at the Northern College of Acupuncture.  He graduated with Distinction in 2017 and is continuing a Master’s degree this year, focusing on the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with acupuncture as his research project. Michael recently furthered his development by training in the world-renowned Balance Method of acupuncture.

Michael uses a range of traditional Chinese medicine methods in his clinic, including acupuncture, electro acupuncture, cupping, gua sha, tuina massage techniques and moxabustion to offer a full holistic health service to patients.
